Privacy policy
Who we are
Triviala is a football trivia game at play.triviala.app. Contact: hello@triviala.app.
What we store
- Guest display name — optional. It stays on your device. During an online match we send it to our game server so other players in that room can see it. Guest play is not an account.
- Account — if you create an account we store your display name, email, and a password hash (we never store the raw password). Google or Apple sign-in stores the provider’s user id and the email they share with us. This account is how Pass and Ad-Free follow you across devices.
- Stripe — checkout still collects a receipt email. We link that Stripe customer to your signed-in account. Typing an email without signing in cannot unlock someone else’s purchase.
- Gameplay — answers, scores, and invite codes for a live match exist in server memory until the match ends or the server restarts.
We do not collect photos, camera, contacts, precise location, or payment cards. On iPhone, if you allow tracking, Google may use the advertising identifier to choose the ad shown after a match. You can decline tracking and still play.
What stays on your device
Login session and display name are saved locally so you do not have to type them every visit. Logging out deletes that local session.
Third parties
- Fly.io — hosts the website and live lobby.
- Stripe — if you buy Triviala Pass or Ad-Free on the website, Stripe processes the payment. Stripe receives your email, payment details, and billing address. Listed prices include tax. We do not see or store your full card number.
- API-Sports / API-Football — club crests and player photos may load from their content network. Their servers can see the image request.
- Google / Apple — if you tap Continue with Google or Apple, that provider authenticates you and sends us an email (when they have one) so we can sign you in. If you buy in the iOS or Android app, that store processes the payment. We receive a receipt to turn on Pass or Ad-Free. We do not see your card number.
- Google AdMob — on the iOS and Android apps, a full-screen ad can appear after a match unless Triviala Pass or Ad-Free is active. Google receives an ad request, which can include the advertising identifier if you allow tracking on iPhone. The website does not use AdMob.
Account and Ad preferences in the app explain this and link to ad privacy choices where Google requires them. The website sells Pass and Ad-Free through Stripe. The iOS app uses Apple In-App Purchase. The Android app uses Google Play Billing.
Children
Triviala is a general-audience trivia game. It is not directed at children under 13. If you are a parent and believe a child sent us data, email us and we will help remove what we can.
How long we keep it
Live rooms disappear when the match ends or the server restarts. Device data lasts until you log out or clear the site/app storage.
Your rights (including EU / UK)
Signed-in players can delete an account in the app under Account, or by emailing hello@triviala.app. Deletion removes the Triviala login. It does not cancel an Apple or Google subscription; cancel that in the store. Guest play leaves little on our servers. You can always log out on the device you used.
